Sonoma County Historical Records Commission nominations open for the 2025 Collections and Archives Recognition Awards
The Sonoma County Historical Records Commission is now accepting nominations for their 2025 Collections and Archives Recognition Awards. This award recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of individuals, groups, agencies, collections and archives located within Sonoma County. Nominees located within the boundaries of Sonoma County and practicing the collection and preservation of historical records for the promotion of history and cultural preservation qualify for the award. Sonoma County creates online hub to help communities reduce wildfire risk
Sonoma County today announced the launch of SonomaCountyResilient.org, a new website that makes it easier than ever to find information and funding for land management projects that reduce wildfire risk and protect local ecosystems. The website will serve as a one-stop hub for residents, landowners, resource managers and organizations seeking technical assistance, funding and practical tools for local forest and watershed management projects. Remembering those lost to drug overdoses at Aug. 30 overdose awareness event
An average of 12 people die each month in Sonoma County from drug overdoses, which is the third highest rate among Bay Area counties. With fentanyl having emerged as a stealth drug often unknowingly mixed into other drugs, the situation has only become more dire. To raise awareness of the dangers of overdosing, the Sonoma County Department of Health Services invites the public to attend a free special event that will include music, art, food, demonstrations of overdose prevention tools and a display of classic lowriders from the Latin Rollers Car Club. The Sonoma County Department of Health Services (DHS) is pleased to invite you to respond to a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for Measure O: Behavioral Health & Homelessness Pathways to Sustainability. The Department is looking to use Measure O funding to support the community and help protect the County’s investments in Behavioral Health and Homelessness services and programs. The Department is seeking applications from a mix of community-based organizations (CBOs) and local government partners with existing projects critical to these networks that are facing funding uncertainties in the coming year. Nomination period for Nov. 4 Uniform District Election extended to Aug. 13
Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Evelyn Mendez announced that candidate nominations for the following special district offices up for election in November have been extended to Wednesday, Aug. 13 because one or more incumbents did not file by the Aug. 8 deadline. Read full story
Pesticide Use Report Form Changes for Production Agriculture
Due to recent changes to Title 3, California Code of Regulations (3 CCR) sections 6624 & 6626 concerning pesticide use reports (PURs) for production agriculture, start and end times are now required for all pesticide applications on an agricultural commodity. Read full story
