She began her educational journey at Santa Rosa Junior College, earning two associate degrees in Sociology and Social & Behavioral Sciences before transferring to UC Berkeley, where she completed a B.A. in Social Welfare with a minor in Public Policy. Her lived experience navigating higher education as a first-gen student continues to guide her student-centered and equity-focused approach in her professional work.

Amy recently joined Santa Rosa Junior College as a Student Success Specialist, where she currently supports programming efforts to create a welcoming, resource-rich environment for students to thrive.

Amy’s passion for advocacy began in high school through the Junior Commission on the Status of Women (JCSW), where she learned about local government and issues impacting women in Sonoma County. Since 2018, she has continued her involvement as a Project Coordinator Intern and Ad Hoc Mentor, guiding participants in developing advocacy projects on topics such as human trafficking and menstrual poverty. Her experience with the Junior Commission has reinforced her commitment to ensuring women and girls feel seen, heard, and supported in their efforts to create positive change in the community.

Raised in an immigrant household in Sonoma County, Amy is dedicated to uplifting Latinx voices, advancing equity in education, and ensuring historically marginalized communities are represented in decision-making spaces. As a newly appointed Commissioner for the Commission on the Status of Women, she brings her background in student services, mentorship, and community advocacy to promote equity and empower women & girls across Sonoma County.
