Underground Utilities Installation in Sonoma County

In Sonoma County, the Public Infrastructure is collaborating with PG&E to advance underground utilities through two major efforts. PG&E’s expansive 10,000‑mile undergrounding program, part of its Community Wildfire Safety Program, is aimed at reducing wildfire risk and enhancing electrical system reliability by relocating high-risk overhead distribution lines underground. The second initiative operates under CPUC’s Rule 20 (Rule 20A), a tariff-based program that facilitates undergrounding in designated districts.
